Yoga Classes

Yoga is an ancient discipline that has evolved over thousands of years and promotes physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. If you are looking for a fitness class, with a yoga title, then my classes are not for you.

I strive to honour the roots and teachings of this ancient practice in all my classes. I have over 800 hours of training and my classes combine asana practice (yoga poses), chanting, philosophy, good sensible breath work, pranayama, meditation and mindfulness. Yoga is not just a physical discipline, but a way of life and I always encourage my students to take what they experience and witness on the mat out into the rest of their day and lives to help them to cope with and interact with life in a more positive and meaningful way.

I pride myself on making all my classes inclusive and accessible to all levels of practitioner. I create a safe and welcoming environment for all. I am trauma informed and always offer plenty of choice and agency using modifications, variations and props as required to help everyone get the most out of their practice.
Yoga has many benefits, a lot of which are now scientifically proven, including but not limited to:
  • Improved physical strength, flexibility and balance;
  • Reduced chronic pain
  • Improved sleep
  • Reduction in anxiety and depression
  • Reduction in stress levels
  • Enhanced cognitive function – better memory, focus and executive functions
  • Improvements in mood; and promotes mindfulness – being more present and spending less time in rumination and overthinking
  • Yoga can also improve your energy levels and help you to feel calmer and more peaceful more of the time

Classes

Gentle Hatha yoga class 10.30am – 11.30am

Mondays:
Where?
  This class takes place at a beautiful fully equipped yoga studio in Hindley called Yoga Universe.  Yoga Universe - Laurel House, Atherton Rd, Hindley, Wigan WN2 3XD

Cost?  £9.00 per session block booking and other discounts are available – check website or call the studio for more info.

What you need to bring:  Nothing!  All equipment is provided. You may wish to bring your own yoga mat if you prefer to use your own.

Virtual Hatha Yoga class 7.00pm – 8.00pm

Where?  On-line LIVE every Monday on ZOOM.

Practicing online with me is a great option if you can’t make it to one of my local in person classes.  We still meet LIVE every week so I can take a look at you practice and help to guide you if needed with any helpful cues and teaching points.  You get to practice in your own home, so there is no travel involved.  And you will get access to all of the classes in the block for the full term so you can catch up on any that you miss, or repeat any that you particularly enjoyed or want to do again – at no additional cost! 

Cost?  £ 7.50 per session*. 

What you will need:  A yoga mat, blanket and one or two yoga blocks if possible.  

*classes are taught in term time blocks and are non-refundable. 

Beginners yoga class 6.30pm – 7:45pm

Tuesdays:
Where?  In the Tesco Community Room, on the Loom retail park, Spinning Jenny Way, Leigh. 

Cost £8.00 per session payable in term-time blocks up front.*

What you will need:  A yoga mat, blanket and one or two yoga blocks if possible.

How to book?  BUY NOW – need to upload details of each term here and a link to buy/book a place.  Each NEW person needs to download and complete a health form prior to attending the class.   

*classes are taught in term time blocks and are non-refundable. 

Hatha yoga class suitable for all levels 6.00pm -7.00pm

Wednesdays:
Where?  Anytime Fitness gym on the Loom retail park, Spinning Jenny Way, Leigh

Cost? £8.00 per session for non-members of the gym.  Gym members – classes are included in membership price. 

What you will need:  Nothing!  All equipment is provided.  You may wish to bring your own yoga mat if you prefer to use your own.
